THE National University Bulldogs finish off the UST Growling Tigers, 75-68, to cap a two-game losing streak today at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
NU was on fire from the start of the game, firing 4 out of 6 treys in the first quarter.
NU’s Rodolfo Alejandro scored 16 markers and grabbed 6 rebounds, while Matthew Salim scored 11 points and clinched 10 boards.
The Tigers almost had the opportunity to catch up in the 2nd quarter after starting a 6-0 run but the Bulldogs’ strong defensive hold ended it as soon as it started, ballooning the lead to 19 points at the end of the quarter.
NU’s defense was helpful in denying the Tigers of shots from outside the perimeter, only giving the Tigers of – shots The Bulldogs fired 4 out of 6 from beyond the perimeter in the first quarter.
After a long scoring drought, the Tigers finally clawed their way back into the game in the 4th quarter, leaving the Bulldogs scoreless for the first 4 minutes of the game.
However, the 20-point cushion left by the Bulldogs in the 3rd quarter was already enough to win them the game.
The two subsequent losses of the Bulldogs came from the De La Salle University Green Archers (75-66) and the Adamson Soaring Falcons (64-51)
