Spreading love with mercy is the invitation of Mother Mary to her devotees, Fr. Rogelio Alarcon said on Saturday during his homily at Santo Domingo Church, Quezon City.
The church is celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Rosary La Naval de Manila 2016 which opened on September 29 with the theme Maria: Ina ng Awa.
“Hinihiling ng Mahal lna Birhen [na] magkaroon ng pagmamahal na may awa,” he said.
He emphasized on Saint Teresa of Jesus and her reflection to become the heart of the Eucharist.
“Ang pagmamahal ay di nasusukat sa laki ng ginagawa [kung hindi] nasusukat [ito] sa pagmamahal na may tamang loob at pagkilos,” Fr. Alarcon said, quoting Saint Teresa.
The priest mentioned that mercy is extremely important especially the mercy felt before unfortunate events happen.
He specifically identified the mercy of parents caring for their children before they go out of their own homes.
“Yun ang awa ng pagmamahal. Pagmamahal ‘yon, nang sa gayon, ang minamahal ay hindi magkaroon ng hindi magandang karanasan,” he said.

He said Catholics are gathered this month of October by Mother Mary to show unity as a Church, describing the people as “katawang spiritwal ni Kristo.”
Fr. Alarcon encouraged devotees to express their love with mercy along with the praying of rosary and participation in processions.
Aside from the feast of La Naval de Manila, the church is also celebrating the 800th anniversary of the confirmation of the Order of the Preachers and the year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis.
Our Lady of Rosary La Naval de Manila was known for her miracle of protecting a Spanish-Filipino ship from the Dutch forces in 1646.
Devotees are welcome to join their holy masses with schedules starting from 5:00 am to 6:00 pm from Monday to Saturday and 5:00 am to 7:00 pm on Sunday.
Novenas are also scheduled at 6:50 am, 11:45 am and 5:30 pm.
